How to Store Kitchen Appliances and Gadgets Safely

Living in Yaletown, Vancouver, it's no secret that kitchen space can come at a premium. And for those living in a cozy apartment with limited cupboards and counter space, finding room for all your kitchen appliances and gadgets can be challenging.

When counter space and cabinet space are at a premium, follow these three tips to store your kitchen appliances and gadgets safely.

Tip 1 - Clean Thoroughly Before Storing

Before putting any appliances or gadgets into storage, clean them thoroughly, as residual food particles or grease can attract pests and potentially damage the appliance over time.

To do this, give the device or appliance a good wipe down with an appropriate cleaner and ensure all components are dry before packing them.

For devices with cords, coil them loosely to avoid stress on the wires which can cause fraying over time, and use twist ties or rubber bands to keep everything neat.

Tip 2 - Put Infrequently Used Items Back In Their Original Packaging

If you’ve kept the original boxes of your kitchen gadgets, now is the time to dig them out, as these boxes are specially designed to house each unique item securely.

If the original packaging is unavailable, sturdy cardboard boxes serve as a substitute, as long as they are appropriately sized.

Fill any empty spaces within the box using bubble wrap or crumpled paper to further cushion the item inside. Seal the box well with packing tape to keep dust out and consider labeling each box so you know exactly what’s stored where without having to open everything up again later on.

Tip 3 - Give Yourself More Space With a Storage Locker

Now that you have your unused gadgets and appliances cleaned and packaged, it's time to find a temporary home for them.

For this step, we recommend using a storage locker to organize and secure your belongings when not in use. By relocating infrequently used appliances to a nearby storage facility like Yaletown Mini Storage, you can ensure they are stored in optimal conditions.

This leaves you with more functional kitchen space and easy retrieval whenever needed.
